Vignette In Stitches, the “Happier Edition"

Hi everyone!

I’m Janie and I live in the Seattle, Washington area.  Here’s my version of the Vignette In Stitches quilt using the Riley Blake fabric line: Happier.  I love this fabric; it has cute little birds and flowers and I think matches up well with the embroidery.  I’ve changed up the floss colors a bit to go with the fabric.  I also decided to do 9 patch blocks instead of the shoo fly blocks. All the 9 patch blocks are done and I have put together Blocks 2 and 3, Block 4 and Blocks 5 and 9.  I will enjoy working with all these bright colors as the dreary winter settles in.

Block 1 is finished.

And here is how Block 2 looks:

This is a fun quilt to make and I am enjoying seeing all of your quilts as I am working on mine.

Have a great week!!

  1. Very cute and still has the feel of the original even with the 9-patches. I have hesitated putting the date in the bird block as I fear the start date and end date may be a decade apart =(, but I like your idea of the extra flowers in the ring.

  2. What delightful colors! A job well done. And you certainly have made it your own with the 9 patch squares. I already have my shoo-flies and really like them.....but the nine patch is equally complementary to the quilt. Have you seen the interior squares? I am thrilled. Just wish there were more hours in the day.

  3. No I haven't seen the interior blocks yet. I'll be ordering the new magazine in the next couple of days. I still have alot of stitching to do before I'll be ready to start the center.

  5. I love your fabric choices. I am getting inspired to try to find a subscription in the UK
