I've stuffed up already!!! I don't like destroying books or magazines so I scanned the stitchery patterns and printed them out so I could pop them onto my light box and see through properly. I thought they looked a little small and I even checked out the blog to see what everyone elses looked like and, still, I persevered. I just figured I would adlib some flowers and be clueless as to why mine was different! I even remeasured and rechecked my cutting. This morning it hit me that I had printed it a different size so I checked... sure enough it had printed at 93%! I'm such a nit wit! I have dithered about with whether or not to unpick it or not and have decided that I have to. So much work down the drain! So here is my progress so far...
... to only get rid of it!
If anyone was worried that this quilt wasn't for them because of the bright colours, don't be! It is looking delicious in darker traditional/ country colours!!! I'm working on the shoo-fly blocks and should have an update on them soon!
I had the exact same trouble & didn't discover it until the stitching was all done. I had to pull the book apart to get it be traced at right size. Only the bird was correct size first time around because i could see it through the book pages. I pulled book 2 apart too to trace it out.
ReplyDeleteOh no!!! I guess thats my silver lining- I hadn't stitched it! You poor thing- that is so much work! I figured out how to stop it from shrinking so I'll start again the same way.
ReplyDeleteHallo. Where can I buy this wonderfull stitchery pattern? I live in Denmark.

NO - don't destroy your beautiful work already done! Make a pillow that will match your quilt when you do it over! I am going to have lots of pillows. Keep changing my mind on the colors.
ReplyDeleteOh Tammy- I was looking at it earlier and thats what I thought too!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristen- it's in the Vignette magazine from Leanne Beasley- I'm not sure where you would get it in Denmark but if you google it, I'm sure something will come up!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does things like that! I'm also very glad that you realised what was wrong so early in the proceedure. It would have been awfull if you'd got loads of stitching done.
ReplyDeleteLove your country colours too. Look forward to watching it grow.
I didn't unpick my "small" version. Just re-did all the flowers & butterflies the right size 2nd time round from book 1. I'm keeping the "small" versions to turn into something else.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have that problem I have a copy machine at my work so I used it! Your colors are lovely!
