Hello and My Start

Hello,

My name is Anne Marieke, I'm from the Netherlands, 46 years old, a translator, living with my partner Marcel and our four cats Elvis, Minty, Kruimel (meaning 'crumb' in Dutch) and Luna ('moon' in Spanish).

I fell in love with this project as soon as I laid my eyes on it. I guess I got to it rather late, but it is never too late to start!

These are some of the materials I have chosen on top of what I will be using from my stash.


There is not yet a lot to see, but those stitching this project will know that the stitcheries are quite time-consuming, but so much fun to stitch!

Only a small part of the border for block 1 got done so far, but now that I have chosen my colours (it took me forever to find the right greens to go with my fabrics) it will go a bit faster.

A late start!

Hi! Thanks Perri for letting me be part of this! Last week I decided to bite the bullet and do the Vignette In Stitches quilt. Fabric ordered. Excitement barely contained. Fabric arrived. So now I'm busily cutting and sewing to get the first block together so I can stitch, stitch, stitch! I've chosen a very different look for my quilt- I'm not a light or modern person so I'm going with "Perennials" from Kansas Trouble Quilters with a stitchery background from their basics line.

So far behind already!

I am so far behind, I thought I was in front.......

I have finally finished sewing the stitchery for Block One. Phew!

I have added some 'Tips that I have learned along the way' to my blog which others may find useful. That is assuming that I am not the very last person to start this project!

I have just sewn my Blocks 2 & 3 together now and marked out all the stitchery. So, back to the stitchery marathon.

All shoo-fly blocks done.

YES! It took a while but  I finished all 60 shoo-fly blocks for the Vignette.

I'm still stitching block 2&3 and couldn't resist to read issue 3. Still loving it!

A start!

As the third Vignette magazine arrived recently, I thought I had better start tracing as there are many flowers to stitch this time with 3 blocks to make.

Blocks 2 and 3 are done - Yay!!

I am excited as I have done Blocks 2 and 3 of this lovely Stitchery from the Vignette In Stitches.

Its a real joy to stitch and I am loving it alot ......so Thanks Leanne :)

I have traced the next ones onto my Hanky Linen and will start that tonight while watching Downton Abbey :) Love that show!

i joined this blog a long long time ago, thanks a lot Perri!

i have had a couple of hard months and i really didnt have the time to post  nothing.

i now have all the vignette in stitches, (made a subscription) and the fabrics i love.

a few days ago i decided i would have stitched the mystery quilt....

i was not so sure, meanwhile i received this other collection that i love

and i finally took my decision.

i have always been scared of stitching exagons, i am a beginner, not an expert like you all.

i wanted to challenge exagons.

i have found out that they are not so complicated and that stitching them is a joy!!!!!!!

these are the first 3, i am not going to make the classic grandmothers garden like Leanne did, I will do a random quilt. i have done 9 up to now and i am quite satisfied.

of course i have some wip. i dont know a real quilter with at least 3 or 4 wips. this new one will be the real one for a relaxing time. the one you can bring with yourself everywhere, i am already loving it.

and the Leanne's trick of the glue instead of basting everything is great, u spare a lot of time.

i also love the quilt on the first issue of Vignette, the very simple one with "where the wind blows" fabrics.

i love this collection.

i hope my english is enough for making me understand by you all.

finally i have my first post here, this blog is wonderful.
