So far behind
Thanks Perri for the warm welcome. I feel so far behind! I discovered the magazine at our local patchwork shop in Northumberland UK and couldn't wait to start. I've chosen the Lily and Will fabrics by Moda in blues, greens, pinks, creams and browns so the finished quilt (should it ever become that!) will look totally different to the photos in the magazine - I love seeing everyone else's fabrics and can't wait to see them all finished! My Mum has suggested that because the fabrics and design are all soooo lovely, I should wait to start it until I have finished some of my current projects.... :( - don't you just hate it when parents are right.... but I'm not sure my will power is sufficient so I may be joining you shortly!
Block one is done....
and I love it to bits.
I've started Blocks 2 & 3. I've chosen to do the border in one long piece too. I've rolled it up like a parchment at clipped it with a couple of border clips. Works a treat.
The sneak peak of the next block is gorgeous... can't wait for the next issue of Vignette to see the whole block.
Hope you are all enjoying your stitching

A Small Preview...

Finally starting?!?
I finally have the first two Vignette magazines, the fabrics have been chosen, and I just need to get cutting. I'm so far behind every one else, but I'm hoping it won't be long and I'll be caught up.
The fabrics I have chosen are from Holly Holderman's line with Lake House House Dry Goods. They are bright and cheery and totally different than anything I have ever worked with. Guess I had better get to work. :) Kristen

Block One Hexie Quilt.
9 to go...I am using 3 ranges from Blackbird Design..At Waters Edge-Harvest Home and Rhubarb & Ginger. I am calling this Quilt my Scrappy Blackbirds...
I Fiddled the Centre blocks stitching them with Threads...first one in Brown thinking they will blend in with the fabrics..no that didn't work..then I did one in dk Red similar to Leanne's..no that didn't work either...I quite like them just hand traced in the light Brown Pen that I use...so that's what I have gone with...with these fabrics the stitched centres were too much taking the eye away from the fabrics...
I'm happy with my choice.
cheers

Also started on block 2 & 3
I made some progress with block 2 & 3. Almost all the patchwork is done. Rest me only the stitching. I like to do this very much. Perhaps a little bit less after finishing these blocks. I try to figure out how the quilt is going to look like and that means that I have to do this another tree times. Time will tell.... if I'm right or not. Still working with pleasure on the blocks.

Finished Block 1 (NOT!)
Unlike Sue and all of you clever speedy stitchers working on block 2 and 3, I am yet to completed block 1.
I am close though, in relation to the stitchery I have a few butterflies left to chain stitch and 2 shoofly blocks (well technically 1 - as I am making the blocks for block 1 and 8 (? was it 8 or 16?) as per Leanne's instructions)
Again, I adore Rosalie Quinlan's Sweet Broderie fabrics and have purchased bits on sale from various places, so I can add to my stash and maybe get a few hexagons out of them too!
I am looking forward to finishing it and getting a start on Block 2 and 3 soon.
Hope all of your Vignette in Stitches and Vignette Hexagon Quilts and any other stitching or life projects are going well.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend!
*hugs*

Finished block 1
And six weeks until magazine 3 comes out with blocks 4 and 5. I don't cope with pressure well and even self inflicted pressure. I know I can do these blocks at my own speed and take more than the two years that this project is released over, but I know that if I take it easy at the beginning, it will get put to the side. A point in case are the two 2009 block of the month quilts. Both are still unfinished 18 months after the last block was published and I did keep up right until then end, but the Thimbleberries quilt lies half quilted. The TQS quilt needs the last border adding and then it needs to be pinned and quilted.
Here's my first block, the second and third blocks are already pieced and the stitchery traced. I am waiting until it's all finished before stitching the grass line to try and keep the size of stitches uniform all the way around as I haven't yet got my stitch size consistent yet.
And here's some lovely Moda spotty goodness to go with my Just a Hoot fabrics for the Vignette BOM and also for the interior of the Stitchers Keeper. The only one I won't be using is the green as it's too bright for these projects.

Prep work....
And a start on 3 flowers...I am thinking I will do a block set at a time rather than all the hexies piling up...at least it will look like progress to me...lol.
I am using 3 different ranges of Blackbird Design Fabrics from my stash...Harvest Home-At Waters Edge and Rhubarb & Ginger...hoping they will mix well together...
cheers

Stitching flowers
This week I have continued stitching away in my spare moments on my Vignette quilt. I tend to have a mental count going on in my head - I have 40 red flowers to stitch, 4 more to go and I am halfway - and this spurs me on to get another flower finished! Does anyone else work like that?
Happy stitching everyone!

Remember.
A big thank you to Perri for the warm welcome. Not much to show yet, just the remember board which I did for our kitchen. It is in peachy pink tones from material out of my stash. I didn't get it professionally framed, just added a bit extra around the edges and popped it into a large photo frame.
I am looking forward to starting a new project from the Vignette collection..

I'm ready to start
I've finally gathered all my fabrics to start Vignette. I've chosen fabrics by Me & My Sister called Favourite & i did get the Lecien basics range. Found a nice spot & for the stitchery i'm using a tone on tone. Now to find time to start. :)

Happy stitching,

Finally a Beginning!
I received these from Patchwork with Gail B in Victoria, Australia
And this from the lovely Melissa and Leslie from Inbetween Stitches in CA
Made sure I read all the instructions first
And finally got started on block one, which I have now traced and am in the process of working on the stitching. I have not yet completed the shoofly blocks but will work on them next. More details will probably be posted on my blog a bit later today!
I am so very excited to finally have started!
